this morning a couple of my kids were singing ain't no mountain high enough ... which is great, since it is a classic song.
but they were supposed to be writing.
so, by nature, without even thinking, of *course,* i just changed the words to the song, got in the kids' face and sang about how they should be writing ("this is not that hard, it's important work, it's pretty easy, kiddo ... just grab your pen and write down some words ..." you get the idea). i swear, the class stopped.
"dang, ms. matthews can sing" was the only thing i heard them say. i think they wrote some after that.
