that is my evil laugh after realizing the POWER i possess.
case in point: today two of my kids refused to come into the classroom. they ran around the hallways, into other classrooms, and generally wreaked (?) havoc until 9:15 - an hour after school starts. they eventually came back in, begged not to be suspended, sat down and did some pretty decent work.
during lunch i went down to the dean of discipline's office and told him that something needs to be done, that they are beginning to think they'll get away with this.
he says to me, well what can we do ... (we went through a long list of interventions, most of which either don't apply or have been applied ...). then he asks, well, what do you want? i said, i want them to have consequences. suspension, parent meeting, but something serious. he then says, you want them suspended? sure, i reply. you got it. and he wrote the paperwork then and there, and then dramatically delivered it to my classroom about 20 minutes later. it was beautiful.
and who knew it was so easy??
i'm going to end up with no class by next week if i keep this up. i lost 20% for the next two days. ;)
