today i asked one of my new students to choose a book and read silently like all the other students (well, they were sort of reading, sort of silently). she flipped out and got all violent.
when i finally calmed her down, she whimpered, but i can't reaaaaad.
oh my. what a moment. i read to her alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day (b/c that's what she was having). then she read hop on pop to me.
thank goodness for dr. seuss.
