i spent the weekend in denver, finding an apartment ... (it's awesome). check out here for pictures.
i missed school friday and monday. naturally, today, they asked how my trip was. so i told them - told them where i went and, more importantly, why. one kid muttered, "yessss" under his breath. jerk.
there was a little bit of outrage, some definite strategizing as to how i can quit a job i haven't started (they recommended that i work for a month, say it's too hard, then get back here in time for school to start again), and some secret whispering that sounded like a surprise party (one boy said, "i'll make my homemade pasta salad. it's so good." he's 12. hahaha).
one kid said, in this sweet voice, "you know, it's not that i'm mad, and i'm not gonna, like, cry or something, but i guess, you know, just disappointed."
another kid put his head down on his desk and cried. just with wide eyes looked at me when i told them, and then cried. i did too, when i went over to see if he was okay and saw a puddle of tears on his desk.
i told him later, "the good news is that we still have two whole weeks to enjoy together." he looked at me and whispered, "there is no good news."
